Located along the banks of the mighty Columbia River and east of the Cascades, The Dalles, Oregon, just 86 miles east of Portland serves as the eastern gateway for the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The area

The town is built upon the hills of the gorge and the terrain is a combination of forested, orchards, and high desert. The town is surrounded by cherry orchards with large wheat ranches located just to the east. Views include Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, the Klickitats and the Columbia River. |
