The district has fiber optic cable between the schools and has networked all buildings. All buildings have computers in labs, internet access, and computers in all classrooms. Parents are invited to be involved in their child's program. Among the private schools offered in The Dalles Area is St. Mary's Academy. Founded in 1864 by the Sisters of The Holy Names, St. Mary's Academy has had a direct impact on education and our community for over 137 years. The academy currently has 190 students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, half of which are Catholic. St. Mary's firmly believes in teaching the whole child. Religion, language arts, social studies, science, math, computers, art, music, and physical education make up the body of the students' education. In addition, many activities are offered that are not based on the primary curricula, yet add to the student's overall development. After-school sports are available for the fifth through eighth grade. If you are interested in the academy or have any questions, please do not hesitate to stop by and visit the school and staff. |
